Food and Health - or why heroes live healthier lives

Meat is the new tobaccoBased on scientific knowledge, it has been shown that two-thirds of all diseases are related to diet. Although each of us eats every day, doctors are often poorly trained in nutrition, even though many diseases can be prevented, alleviated, or cured by a healthy diet.

A vegetarian and vegan diet offers enormous health benefits: it prolongs lifespan, and in particular disease-free life ("good life"), by reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer—these two diseases being the leading causes of death in our country—by up to 40%. The positive effects are also proven for many other diseases.

The health benefits are so numerous and significant that a growing number of reputable health insurance companies are also recommending vegetarian and vegan diets. For example, the largest US health insurer, Kaiser Permanente, specifically recommends a vegan diet to prevent disease and improve quality of life, and even requires doctors to recommend a vegan diet to their patients.

Animal-based foods also have ethical, social, and environmental aspects:

We drink 3 liters a day, but "eat" 3000 liters. Water consumption for meat production is so high that a vegan can shower 24/7 while consuming even less water.

18% of all greenhouse gases come from livestock farming - that's even more than all the planes, cars, trucks, boats and motorcycles in the world produced combined.

60% of the feed given to European livestock comes from resource-poor countries. This indirectly exacerbates the problem of world hunger. More than a billion people suffer from poverty and malnutrition. The same number suffer the consequences of overconsumption – a tragic irony!

On average, every 10 years, a meat-based diet destroys 14,600 m2 of tropical forest, which is used as growing land for animal feed, which is equivalent to 2 football fields.

By being vegan, you prevent 1000 animals from being raised in factory farms, transported and slaughtered in atrocious suffering.

When will you begin your new healthy life, in which you will also become a hero?
