Collection: Earthenware biscuit

Earthenware biscuits are raw ceramics. They are painted with glazes, in most cases covered with a transparent glaze, and can only be used after being fired in a special ceramic kiln at over 1000 degrees Celsius.

Most of our glazes are food-safe, so after firing, the ceramic can be used like any other tableware. It can be washed in the dishwasher. Opinions differ as to whether hand washing or a dishwasher is better for ceramic. We recommend washing in the dishwasher with an environmentally friendly, non-aggressive dishwashing detergent.

When you receive the ceramic, it is best to clean it with a very clean brush to remove any remaining dust. Small impurities can also be removed with very fine sandpaper. Our earthenware biscuits are all handmade , so each piece is unique. Small imperfections can certainly occur, but they are usually no longer visible after painting and firing.

Please note that we recommend using the glazes we offer (across all Mayco and Gare locations) for our ceramics to achieve a good result. If you wish to use our firing service, you can only send ceramics purchased from us and painted with our colors.

We cook with the following cooking curve:

Up to 900 degrees: heating at 180 degrees/hour
From 900 degrees: heating at 100 degrees/hour
At 1005 degrees, holding time 15 min.
Then let it cool
